Originally released on the Nintendo Wii U, another addition to the Xenoblade Chronicles collection has everyone clamoring toward the Nintendo Switch to see how the game has evolved for the new console. So far, most are thoroughly impressed by the overall technical quality of the game. The developers casually glide over traditional performance obstacles to make every moment of exploring as flawless as possible. Besides the impressive performance, there are a lot of things in the Xenoblade Chronicles X world that are worth attention.
If you are interested in investing some serious time in an epic open-world RPG, check out Xenoblade Chronicles X and other similar titles which we have also reviewed in this article.
What Is Xenoblade Chronicles X?
In continuation of the series, Xenoblade Chronicles X is a continuation of the popular game series the Xenoblade Chronicles. This standalone sci-fi takes place on a planet far from Earth during a dark time. Two warring alien empires have left behind factions of what remains of humanity on the planet. Remaining citizens manage to escape on a spacecraft and drift through space until the vessel crash lands on a planet called Mira. It is on this planet that those who managed to escape will attempt to rebuild the society they lost to devastation.
The game itself does not follow any particular storyline path but rather, users can choose what missions to pursue and progress through the game at their own pace. The open world provides endless hours of exploring, battling monsters, picking up team members, and discovering all that Mira offers. All for the sake of humanity, no doubt!
Xenoblade Chronicles X was recently released for the Nintendo Switch but is also available on Nintendo Wii U. Explore a massive open-world filled with monsters, missions, and plenty of sci-fi action. Hundreds of hours of gameplay—alone or with up to 32 NPC’s to build your best team for missions, customize abilities and attacks, even ride giant dino monsters to fight aliens. Progress at your own pace through the story of the last fight to rebuild humanity on Mira. This game was developed by Monolith Soft and produced by Nintendo, and it is rated T for Teens due to various fantasy violence.

Ease of Gameplay
Even if you have not played the initial games in this series, it is simple and easy to pick up navigation both in the world and within your HUD. Battle style is much like that of other traditional RPGs but with the open combat of average first to third person shooters. In Xenoblade Chronicles X, you can customize the abilities and attacks of each character, including your own, for the perfect fighting strategies.
Another epic thing about this game is being able to use giant monsters to battle aliens. This feature is just like navigating player-drivable vehicles in games like GTA and Borderlands. Use these bad boys (otherwise known as Skell) to do some serious damage to the aliens trying to wipe out humanity.
As we mentioned earlier on in this article, the developers of the Xenoblade Chronicles game series did not waste any time trying to seamlessly assemble their open-world for uninterrupted exploration that is just breathtaking. But they did not just focus on this game’s appearance. They focused on the overall design of the game and the user experience. This game is for those who love combat and have a love for turn-by-turn team battling like traditional RPGs.
Xenoblade Chronicles has always been a magical and beautiful universe that has evolved with time, much like other aspects of Nintendo and their products. This means these games have gotten more flawless over time. Not only does the world run smoothly, but it is also entirely seamless and does not provide any loading screens of any kind. A solid 30FPS is constant throughout every moment of the game and its story.
The original of the Xenoblade Chronicles metaseries, this is just the beginning of the war between worlds that will rip humanity apart. This introduction to what will become an amazing RPG series is an epic single-player journey through a world at war with aliens and the potential end of all humanity as we know it. Harness the power of your blades and use massive creatures to defend humanity and find a new beginning.

Easily navigate the open world, your inventory, and strategize for combat. The easily visible HUD is impressive against its even more impressive environment. This gorgeous world is simple and yet has so much to offer players. You can even easily change and control the weather. Strategic combat uses the abilities of your entire party, like most RPGs.
The most intoxicating thing about this game is not just the world and its inhabitants but in its storyline and delivery. Not to mention all the other features you can experience, like riding massive creatures, various weather conditions, exploring gorgeous places, and traveling to save humanity by any means necessary. Characters are concerned for the future of humanity admirably.
Xenoblade Chronicles has always been a gorgeous masterpiece in the world of RPG. Art, visuals, cut scenes, combat—all of it is calculated and flawless. This quality grows over time, keeping this game series a breathtaking experience for everyone. The world itself and the things that occur in it are beautiful in several ways, but in no way compares to how gorgeous this game is.

- A new story in the Xenoblade Chronicles series
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the epic action RPG sequel to the first of the Xenoblade Chronicles saga. This time around they offer a cast of new characters, but the general premise of the story remains finding a way to further the life of the remaining humans. In this journey, Rex and Pyra seek Elysium as the new paradise of humanity. Beasts featured in this game are referred to as Titans. Your squad is limited to three companions, and you will experience some dynamic weather day and night. It is not a necessity to play the first Xenoblade as it is similar but portrays different characters.

Ease of Gameplay
This game is played much like the original and offers a lot of the same features. But even if you have not played the first game in the Xenoblade series, it is fairly simple and easy to pick up. Once you get used to the controls and navigation of your HUD, equipment, and systematic combat, you will be conquering the world on the backs of Titans in no time at all.
Although it has seen major improvement this time around, the world is not as open, and you can not gain more NPCs for your mission team. Combat is efficient but could be smoother systematically regarding how each character does with their abilities and as an individual. But overall, the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a fun and a fairly simple game you can get into for hours on end.
Compared to its latest competition, this games visual effects are impressive and of high quality at the time of its release. And although it’s graphics and visuals supersede that of the first Xenoblade game, it does not do justice to the beautiful worlds of the Xenoblade Chronicles as the latest addition to the series. Regardless, they still successfully paint a beautiful visual concept of the magical universe within.

This epic, action role-playing single-player game follows a similar storyline as the Xenoblade Chronicles. The Last Story is about the last stand for humanity against other greater races of creatures. You lead a group of mercenaries searching for various jobs while the main character, Zael, pursues becoming a knight. Despite being a single-player game, you can access a multiple-player mode where you and other players can team up on different tasks to gain experience and skill points. If you enjoy the Xenoblade Chronicles or games like it, The Last Story is right up your alley, as its strategic combat, and the open world offers a lot of similar features.

Ease of Gameplay
The layout of this game is very much like that of the Xenoblade Chronicles, especially concerning their system-based battles, companions, quests, and its open-world format. Choose your team from a variety of NPC’s or play online with up to 6 other players to gain experience and skill points you will use to advance in the game. You progress through the world based on the level of experience rather than just being able to roam freely from mission to mission as you please.
Despite how awesome this game is, the fact that you have to reach certain milestones to progress takes away some charm. This limits players from specific areas in the game’s storyline based on their experience level. Unlike the Xenoblade Chronicles games, The Last Story follows a somewhat particular storyline and commits its players to that system.
The creators of this RPG are Nintendo Wii developer legends Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nodou Uematsu. All the artwork and visual dynamics of this game are created by the two, making it one of the most gorgeous RPGs on the Nintendo market. Developers did well to assure this beauty was not interrupted by normal game functions and even extends to the breath-taking cut scenes. Regarding visual satisfaction, this game is as fun to look at as it is to play.
So many RPG’s and only so much time to explore them all! These games have truly given Nintendo a run for their money; they adhere to their usual style without staying in the realm of Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, and things of their usual nature. Xenoblade Chronicles X and similar products also offer a realm of RPG to younger crowds that are already huge fans of Nintendo.
Nintendo, although a long-standing favorite of the industry, usually appeals to a different crowd than Playstation, Xbox, or PC games. Especially considering the releases of their last two consoles which introduced entirely new ways to game and experience gaming. It is refreshing to see them mixing in a variety of things that appeal to other console devotees like the classic Xenoblade Chronicles saga and our ability to play them with other people all over the world online. This is a feature we have all waited for ever since playing Mario Kart online.
The next time you are itching for an RPG for your Wii and Switch consoles, be sure to check out these products. We recommend the Xenoblade Chronicles X. At a staggering 4 / 5 stars, give it a go for epic role-playing adventures of the finest quality.
