The World Of Diablo 3
In this section of our Diablo 3 review, we will be looking the world of Diablo 3, its atmosphere, the story and the characters.
Atmosphere & Location
Diablo 3 allows you to choose from a variety of different playable classes each with their own abilities and spells. While allowing you to turn your character 360 degrees the camera angle is positioned above your character which also allows you to see the battlefield from a better vantage point. Whether you play by yourself or with friends, you can use your abilities together to take down many different creatures, minions or bosses. The world is filled with hidden rare creatures or loot all ready for the taking while you play story missions or replay them at different difficulties to progress your character.
Most of the music features some epic to relaxing fantasy tracks that seem to go well with the type of gameplay and storyline. Orchestral in nature, the songs feel harmonious which play along well with roleplaying themes and exploration of the world.
Each playable class offers a wide selection of spell or ability types each with their own unique spell animations. While casting at enemies or towards breakable objects in the game, there will be explosions and objects becoming broken. Along with animations, each spell will have a unique sound when they are cast which may make them more enjoyable to use.
Diablo 3 portrays a similar approach to dungeon-crawling games with more of a underworldly theme, however, the world and lore of the game were originally created by Blizzard Entertainment. Skill trees, item stats, character leveling, and other features in Diablo 3 may be somewhat influenced in part by Blizzard Entertainment’s popular and successful MMO World of Warcraft. The integrated chat system of Diablo 3 allows players to chat with other Blizzard account holders from other games, much like Valve’s Steam platform.
In Diablo 3 you will be able to choose from 5 different character classes (1 added with the expansion Reaper of Souls and 1 added with Rise of the Necromancer) with differing roles and abilities including:
Barbarian: This class featured in Diablo 2 and is available as a selection in Diablo 3. Its skills are based on mostly physical and melee attacks that are made up with a series of crushing or smashing abilities. It uses fury as an energy resource for its abilities which degenerates with use and regenerates upon being attacked, attacking enemies and using some special abilities.
Witch Doctor: It is a new playable class featuring in Diablo 3 with skills similar to the necromancer with more shamanistic abilities. The witch doctor uses mana as a resource which regenerates on its own slowly.
Wizard: Renamed after the sorceress from Diablo 1 and 2, its abilities range from shooting lightning, fire, ice, slowing time, to teleporting during combat. The wizard uses arcane power as a resource for its spells that regenerates quickly on its own.
Monk: This class is a melee fighter that uses martial arts to both cripple and deals damage to attackers. S The monk uses spirit as a resource which is slowly generated from attacking and does not degenerate.
Demon Hunter: The Demon Hunter uses a combination of crossbows and bombs to deal damage to multiple enemies. This class uses hatred as a resource for attacks and discipline for defensive abilities.
Crusader: Featuring in the Reaper of Souls expansion pack, this class uses a variety of melee and defensive abilities to both shield or attack enemies. The resource they use is called wrath which is generated through attacking, being attacked and using special abilities.
Necromancer: This spellcaster uses death and summoning minions to deal both ranged and melee type of damage to attackers. The resource they use is called essence which is generated by attacking enemies with primary skills.
Following Diablo 1 and 2, Diablo 3 carries on the story in a place called Sanctuary twenty years after the events of Diablo 2. The characters Deckard Cain and Leah are investigating ancient texts within Tristram Cathedral that tell of an ominous prophecy. Soon after a strange falling star hits the Cathedral, opening a massive crater that Deckard Cain falls into.
After Deckard Cain goes missing in the crater, the player must investigate the falling star crater and the undead that are rising from it. Leah joins the player to rescue Cain from the crater after which you will learn that you have to defeat a powerful Skeleton King deep within the depths of the Cathedral. Once you defeat the Skeleton King, you are able to discover that a man had fallen with the star with the intention of warning of evil to come which is where you start off and out to destroy the risen evils.

Both expansions offer plenty of content for what you would pay for them so if you like Diablo 3 and want them they’re worth it.
This is a game for fans of dungeon crawlers or roleplaying fantasy games that both love good lore or character progression.
