For the past six years, gamers have been waiting for the next iteration to the Borderlands series.
We have gotten a game that bridges the gap between the first two games, along with one that shows what happens after the events in the second game, but we are still left wanting more.
Recently, the director of the studio behind the game series confirmed another game is on the way, and many speculate that it is Borderlands 3.
What Is Borderlands 3?
Borderlands 3 is the next jump into the universe that has spanned over four games.
Three of these games are first-person shooters developed by Gearbox, while the other is a story based game made by Telltale Games.
Gamers hope Borderlands 3 will wrap up everything that the story has left open and keep us laughing the whole way through.
The typical price of games like this are around $60 dollars when they first come out. While we cannot be certain how much this game will cost, we anticipate it to fall in that general price range. The prices for these types of games also tend to vary depending on the system, the format in which you purchase it, and where you purchase it from. Be sure to check all possible listings prior to purchasing Borderlands 3 whenever it comes out.
The best parts of the Borderlands games is that they are a fun way to play with not just a group of friends, also on your own, and we expect Borderlands 3 to be no different. The series is known for the shocking amount of weapons it has in its loot system, so you can look forward to seeing a wide range of wacky weapons in this next itteration.
How It Compares
We picked a few games that are similar to Borderlands 3 to see how it might compare.
You can also check out these games, similar in gameplay and design, while you wait for Borderlands 3 to come out.
- Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
- Far Cry 5
- Borderlands 3
Since the game has not been released yet, it is unknown what the exact price will be. We have estimated that it will cost roughly $60.
The storyline was always one of the weaker parts in the Borderlands series.
The first game in the series barely had any plot to drive it forward. But, from the second game in the series and on, they have been focusing much more on creating a compelling story.
We have high expectations for the story of Borderlands 3.
Gameplay is something that draws so many people to this series and it is reasonable to believe that Borderlands 3 will continue to have amazing gameplay.
You can look forward to playable characters that each have their own style and power system for you to explore, along with an insane amount of weaponry to cause havoc with.
The games in the Borderlands series are all well designed.
The content is so well crafted that they can make you laugh consistently throughout the game, yet sprinkle in memorable cinematic moments to touch on your heartstrings.
This is something that people often do not like about the Borderlands series.
Instead of taking the traditional approach and making the characters realistic, they instead make them look like they are from a comic book. This art style will most likely continue into Borderlands 3 since it has been a key characteristic of their games.

Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition
Horizon Zero Dawn features a compelling story, amazingly detailed gameplay, creative designs, and gorgeous artwork. The only thing that disappointed us about this game was the fact that it is a PlayStation exclusive title.
This game’s story shocked us. In the game you take control of a young woman named Aloy in a post apocalyptic world.
Throughout the game, you are tasked with trying to not only understand your origin and why you are hated, but also finding out what caused the apocalypse.
It takes you on a heart wrenching adventure that has a little something for everyone to enjoy.
The gameplay in this game is very smooth, and you can take on many playing styles depending on what you like to do in games.
You can play it while using stealth to its fullest, you can run head first into danger, or you can set traps for enemies.
The design of this game is terrific. Something so minor as leaving small footprints behind while you and your enemies walked in a snowy land helped to bring forth an incredible atmosphere for players to enjoy.
Even after their death, if an enemy slid down, there would be a trail following where they went in the snow. We feel that this displays the level of detail they put into this game well.
The graphics in this game are some of the most realistic graphics we have seen yet. It truly feels like you are watching a movie.
When there is a large enemy targeting you, it can be terrifying due to how much detail they put into each enemy. Not to mention your surroundings.
The entire game is so well crafted that the simplest of movements can feel real and threatening.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition
The original game of Skyrim came out in 2011 and made the video game world go nuts. Its world was completely designed by hand with no random generated terrain, yet the map itself was unbelievably large.
It also featured many interesting side quests and subtleties that made the world feel much more realistic than any other games before it did.
In fact, fans loved it so much that years later they came out with Skyrim Special Edition, which features all the mods of the original Skyrim game with updated graphics.
The storyline for Skyrim sadly is rather lackluster. That does not mean that it does not have its moments, but most players do not focus on the main plotline of the game. Instead, they focus more on the side missions in the world.
The side missions and how your character interacts with the world really sell this game and helps it feel more realistic. In fact, aside from the main storyline there are several other major plotlines one can explore like the Civil War, the College of Winterhold, the Thieves Guild, and the Dark Brotherhood.
All the storylines in this game help add more depth to the world.
The gameplay of Skyrim has some of the most fun combat available in video games. You can choose many ways of playing, like different types of mages, various rogues, and warriors.
You are not limited to one though as you can be a mage but still fight with swords. It all depends on how much you can imagine because you can ultimately fight and gain skills any way you want.
Skyrim is both a well designed game and horribly designed all at the same time.
There are coding error issues that can kill your character, which have often frustrated players, but have also led to some of gamer’s funniest memories of the game.
Beyond a few glitching errors, the visual scenery and overall design of the game is quite compelling. Many players have viewed it as one of their favorite games to date.
The graphics in Skyrim have always been a bit touch and go, but this latest edition really did its best to fix all of our complaints.
Its pure beauty and design often make up for small camera angle issues. The scenery, the characters, and even the land itself give players everything they have been craving and more.

With how little we know about Borderlands 3, it is hard to give it an accurate assessment.
Based on previous Borderlands games, the quality of the company who creates it, and the overall hype for the game, we are giving Borderlands 3 an estimated rating of four stars. We anticipate this game to be just as good, if not better than, previous iterations.
While you are waiting for Borderlands 3 to come out, check out one of the other games we have mentioned here. All three of these games are great ways to curb your anticipation.
